Bullying And Its Effects On Children - 864 Words

Kerianna Rimmer Have you ever been bullied? Have you ever bullied someone? Bullying has become a huge issue. It is occurring all across the world. There are a few different types of bullying, which I will be discussing. First, bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among children. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential of being repeated. Both kids who bully and are bullied may have serious, lasting problems. Bullying is a form of behavior in which someone repeatedly and intentionally causes pain or discomfort to another. There are three different kinds of bullying, which are verbal, social, and physical. This includes: name-calling, inappropriate sexual†¦show more content†¦Also, the 2013 Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) indicates that, nationwide, 20% of students in grades 9–12 experienced bullying. Next, bullying can happen anytime. Most b ullying happens in the school building. 1 in 4 teachers see nothing wrong with bullying and will only intervene 4% of the time. Bullying also happens at places like the bus, or the playground. It also happens on the internet, or text messages. It can also happen in the neighborhood. Generally speaking, about 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year. Over 67% of students believe that schools respond poorly to bullying, with a high percentage of students believing that adult help is infrequent and ineffective. I personally think that schools should try to become more involved and learn more about bullying, so it is easier to spot, stop, and prevent. A lot of victims of bullying have suicidal thoughts. Suicide is the third leading cause of death in teens. In this situation, there are a few ways to stop and prevent bullying. First of all, pay attention. Some signs of bullying are: unexplained injuries, lost or damaged personal items, changes in eating habits, and avoiding of school or social situations.
